The Liberal Phase of the Latin American Integration in the XXI Century –The Case of the Pacific Alliance (2011-2016)

Resumen:
Con el objetivo de analizar los factores que influyeron en la creación e influyen en el accionar de la Alianza del Pacífico (AP) durante el periodo 2011-2016, esta tesina de grado pretende estudiar sus iniciativas en el marco de los cambios acontecidos en el escenario de la integración regional en Latinoamérica.

En este sentido, partiendo de la vinculación de la integración con las estrategias de desarrollo y de inserción internacional, se argumenta que el accionar de este nuevo bloque regional se diferenció sustancialmente del modelo de integración predominante en la primera década del siglo XXI a la vez que introdujo una novedad en dicha temática.

Brazil and its South American Peers of the Pacific Alliance: Regional Divergences in International and National Options

Abstract:
The irruption of a new process of regional integration in Latin American, the so-called
Pacific Alliance, has generated a debate to the interior of the Federative Republic of Brazil on the relevance or not that Brazil joins this new regional project. In this sense, this article examines national and international options adopted by the three South American countries of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Peru and Colombia) in comparison to Brazil, in order to explain why their preferences and differences in relation to regional integration.

Resumen:
La irrupción en el escenario latinoamericano de un nuevo proceso de integración regional, la denominada Alianza del Pacífico, ha generado un debate en la República Federativa del Brasil sobre la pertinencia o no de que el gigante sudamericano se sume a este nuevo proyecto regional. En este sentido, el presente artículo examina las opciones nacionales e internacionales adoptadas por los tres países sudamericanos de la Alianza del Pacífico (Chile, Perú y Colombia) vis a vis la del Brasil con el objetivo de explicar el porqué de sus preferencias y divergencias en torno a la integración regional.
